About The Position

Atlas Machine & Supply is looking for an experienced Field Project Engineer to join our field division in Hardinsburg, KY. This role focuses on supporting business growth by building strong customer relationships and delivering engineered solutions for both customers and vendors of Atlas Machine & Supply, Inc. This role involves developing and maintaining customer relationships, evaluating and solving customer equipment problems, designing modifications, providing quotes for various services, and potentially managing large-scale projects on-site. The position requires collaboration with internal teams and adherence to a demanding work schedule, including occasional weekends. A company cell phone will be provided.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quoting/estimated, project management or a related field preferred
  • Experience in machining, welding, fabrication, or construction is a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven problem-solving and analytical skills in defining problems and factual data collection with validated conclusions.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and CAD drawings; SolidWorks experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and general computer applications.
  • Ability to manage and complete project timelines effectively
  • Flexible schedule to meet business needs
  • Willingness to travel 15% - 25% as needed (primarily day trips with occasional overnight stays)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain customer relationships via daily interactions, making supportive sales calls, and visiting customers to evaluate project needs.
  • Evaluate customer component/equipment problems, identify necessary repairs, generate creative solutions, prepare quotations, and plan/prepare job write-ups for these repairs.
  • Work with the customer to design modifications to customer equipment for improved service life, improved performance, or lower manufacturing costs.
  • Provide quotes for on-site machining, welding, and metrology in all industry forms. Primary industries include but are not limited to: steel mills, aluminum mills, power plants, paper mills, aggregate/mining, automotive manufactures, and forging plants.
  • Some projects may require on-site project management and customer relations on large-scale jobs.
  • Work with the on-site management team for daily pre-job preparation and planning.
  • Maintain a team environment working with the Field Machining Supervisors, Field Sales, Core Management, and Schedulers on projects.
  • The workweek will require 45 or more hours a week with a starting schedule to develop a dependable team environment.
  • There are occasional times when weekend attendance or on-site visits will need to accommodate Customer and team member needs.

  • Other duties as assigned.
