About The Position

The Field Planner is responsible for designing construction work orders using the Work Management System (WMS). This role involves staking lines, preparing sketches, circuit maps, diagrams, and estimates. The Field Planner will also assist with or perform other necessary tasks for the planning, preparation, and completion of construction and maintenance work. Key duties include preparing and obtaining private property easements, gathering information for municipal petitions and permits, and assisting with load checks and customer complaint investigations, including planning corrective actions. The position also entails carrying out online inspection work and representing the Company on contract work, as well as maintaining necessary records. The Field Planner will perform other appropriate duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have at least a two-year degree in electrical or mechanical engineering technology or related field or seven (7) years of line worker experience.
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age with a high school education or equivalent.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, without restrictions, and a safe, responsible driving record.
  • Must be generally familiar with all kinds of line construction, materials, standards and procedures.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the circuits, feeds, switches, etc., in the assigned area.
  • Must have the ability and personality to properly represent the Company in the field.
  • Must be familiar with the Company’s published instructions and directives pertaining to the work.
  • Must have the ability to write or print legibly and make accurate estimates, records and reports.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of the Company's operating standards, policies, and directives pertaining to the assignments.
  • Deals courteously with all customers.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of the safety instructions affecting the work and performs the work accordingly.
  • Works assigned overtime and responds to emergency assignments.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the classification.

Responsibilities

  • Designs construction work orders using the Work Management System (WMS).
  • Stakes lines, prepares sketches, circuit maps, diagrams, and estimates.
  • Assists with or performs other work necessary for the planning, preparation for, and completion of, construction and maintenance work.
  • Prepares and obtains private property easements.
  • Gathers necessary information for municipal petitions and permits.
  • Assists with load checks and investigation of customer complaints.
  • Plans corrective action when indicated for customer complaints.
  • Carries online inspection work.
  • Represents the Company on contract work.
  • Maintains necessary records.
  • Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.
