Requirements

  • Equivalent to five (5) years of full-time, progressively responsible administrative or technical office management experience in an administrative capacity exercising independent judgment and leading the work of others.
  • Equivalent to full-time college or university education/vocational school training in business or job-related field may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required experience.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple field placement activities and priorities.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with students, faculty, school administrators, mentor teachers, university supervisors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintains accurate databases, records, evaluations, surveys, and placement information.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with administrative technology and software, including SOLAR, PeopleSoft, Canvas, Microsoft Office, Adobe, BOX, and SurveyMonkey.
  • Identifies procedural issues and recommends improvements that enhance administrative efficiency and field experience processes.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and the ability to interpret, communicate, and support compliance with program policies, procedures, and field experience requirements.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, proficiency in MS Office, good interpersonal, collaboration and organizational skills, effective problem-solving skill.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree and preliminary multiple-subject credential is highly desired.
  • Previous experience as classroom teacher, former mentor teacher, or student teacher supervisor is a plus.
  • Knowledge of student teaching processes and local school district polices desired.

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, the Field Placement Coordinator coordinates day-to-day clerical and administrative functions for the Field Experience Office, including student teaching and observation placements, orientations, field experience records, databases, evaluations, surveys, and communication with school partners, university supervisors, mentor teachers, and students.
  • Initiates and maintains ongoing communication with field placement sites under the guidance of the Director.
  • Communicates directly with district/school site administrators and mentor teachers to verify, establish, and maintain placement sites for student teachers.
  • Prepares placement reports and materials for the Director’s review, providing recommendations for individual student teacher placement assignments each semester.
  • Maintains multiple databases related to student teaching (student teaching assignments, placement sites, university supervisors, and mentor teachers).
  • Serves as first point of contact for University Supervisors and provides support as needed, including communicating important policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
