About The Position

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) is seeking a detail-oriented, part-time Field Enumerator to support their organization. This role involves collecting agricultural data on behalf of the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). NASDA is an agriculture nonprofit that values its community and employees, offering flexible hours and a positive work environment. The Field Enumerator plays a crucial role in serving agricultural producers by providing reliable, accurate, and objective statistics and information that farmers, ranchers, and rural communities depend on. This position requires active interviewing of farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural businesses, sometimes involving travel to designated fields for crop counts. The role also includes maintaining and delivering detailed records of interviews, crop counts, mileage, expenditures, and hours worked. The work is conducted from a residence with an operable telephone, free from distractions, and requires the use of a personal vehicle for travel.

Requirements

  • Ability to make crop counts in designated fields
  • Ability to maintain a reliable personal vehicle
  • Ability to conduct interviews in person or by telephone with farm operators and other individuals
  • Knowledge about computers or iPads

Responsibilities

  • Interview farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural businesses either in person or on the phone.
  • Travel to designated fields to perform crop counts.
  • Maintain and deliver detailed and legible records of interviews, crop counts, mileage, expenditures, and hours worked.
  • Conduct enumerator work from a residence with an operable telephone free from any distractions.
  • Maintain a personal vehicle to travel for field enumerator duties.
