About The Position

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) is seeking a detail-oriented Field Enumerator to perform tasks supporting the organization. This part-time role involves collecting agricultural data on behalf of the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). The position requires interviewing farmers, ranchers, and agricultural businesses, and sometimes traveling to fields for crop counts. The role emphasizes accuracy, reliability, and maintaining detailed records. NASDA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit association representing agricultural leaders from all fifty states and four U.S. territories, founded in 1916 with a mission to grow and enhance American agriculture.

Requirements

Experience multitasking in an energetic, deadline-oriented work environment.
Ability to make crop counts in designated fields.
Ability to maintain a reliable personal vehicle.
Ability to conduct interviews in person or by telephone with farm operators and other individuals.
Knowledge about computers or iPads.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to demonstrate good time management in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated.
Enjoy working as part of a team.
Organized.
Ability to maintain a positive and friendly attitude.
Must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

Interview farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural businesses either in person or on the phone.
Travel to designated fields to perform crop counts.
Maintain and deliver detailed and legible records of interviews, crop counts, mileage, expenditures, and hours worked.
Conduct enumerator work from a residence with an operable telephone free from distractions.
Positively represent NASDA and the benefits of enumerators in all survey actions.
