Monitors and operates wells and associated surface equipment including pumps, natural gas compressors, pumping units, valves, tanks, and other vessels, and helps maintain a safe work environment for the company. This role requires the ability to work established work schedules, with less supervision in the performance of routine duties. The Field Operator demonstrates increasing degrees of understanding of how various parts of the oil/gas facility/plant work together, from wells through production facilities to sales lines. They also show an increased ability to work unsupervised, act upon acquired knowledge of facility functions, and anticipate and correct problems before they occur or affect other parts of the facility. The ability to routinely operate the facility unsupervised, while maintaining it in a safe, environmentally sound condition and keeping neat, accurate records, is essential. Furthermore, the role involves directing the work of and training other employees of lower rank and/or experience, and remaining aware of and directing the whole scope of simultaneous activities at the job site. The ability to recognize non-standard or non-routine conditions, notify supervisory staff, and offer solutions is also a key aspect of this position.
