About The Position

The Field Operations Supervisor is a versatile, hands-on position that supports Bonneville County's noxious weed control and seasonal operations. This position leads and trains seasonal crews, operates herbicide application equipment, assists with drone operations, supports equipment maintenance, and helps with snow removal during the winter months. Work outdoors in a variety of locations throughout Bonneville County. Lead, train, and support seasonal field crews. Operate computerized spray trucks and specialized equipment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience applying or working with pesticides, herbicides, or other related chemicals; or An equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of noxious weed identification, weed control methods, chemical application procedures, and applicable safety requirements.
  • Experience operating and calibrating spray equipment.
  • The ability to lead, train, and supervise field crews.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • The flexibility to adjust to changing assignments, priorities, and seasonal responsibilities.
  • The ability to work effectively with property owners, contractors, agencies, and other community partners.
  • Experience operating UAVs or a willingness to learn.
  • Experience with, or a willingness to support, winter snowplowing and seasonal equipment conversion.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Idaho driver's license
  • Must obtain a Professional Applicator's License with endorsements in Agricultural Herbicide, Law and Safety, Ornamental Herbicide, and Aerial Application within six months of hire.
  • Must obtain a valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate within six months of hire.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and completing noxious weed control projects on county roads, highways, private properties, and contract areas
  • Provide direct, on-site leadership and supervision to seasonal and contract crews
  • Assign daily work, monitor performance, and train employees in herbicide application, equipment operation, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance
  • Operate and calibrate computerized spray trucks and other herbicide application equipment
  • Safely mix and apply herbicides according to established procedures and applicable regulations
  • Support drone flight operations, maintain UAV equipment, and assist with compliance with FAA and state requirements
  • Help convert seasonal equipment between spray and snowplow configurations, including removing bumpers and mounting snowplow equipment
  • Operate snowplows and salt-spreading equipment on County parking lots during the winter
  • Perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting on vehicles and equipment
  • Maintain accurate records of chemical applications, equipment status, and crew activities
  • Work with property owners, contractors, government agencies, and other stakeholders to promote integrated weed management and vegetation re-establishment
  • Adapt to changing assignments and assist with other departmental operations as needed
  • Maintain reliable attendance and consistent, high-quality work
