About The Position

Transco Rail Services, a part of Marmon Holdings (backed by Berkshire Hathaway), is seeking a Field Operations Supervisor to lead site-level operations, drive performance, and build high-performing teams. This role is for a hands-on leader passionate about safety, quality, and operational excellence in fast-paced environments. Transco Rail Services supports customers in transportation, energy, and manufacturing by repairing railcars and keeping critical industries moving.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of safety practices and quality standards
  • Ability to manage teams, schedules, and production priorities
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with KPIs, reporting, and operational metrics

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree or some college
  • Experience in railcar repair, manufacturing, or industrial environments
  • Background in multi-site or customer-facing operations
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily railcar repair operations, leading a skilled workforce and ensuring alignment with customer expectations.
  • Conduct daily site walks to monitor work progress, identify risks, and ensure compliance.
  • Drive performance against key metrics including turnaround time, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage staffing through recruitment, scheduling, training, and workforce planning.
  • Facilitate daily team huddles (toolbox talks) to align on safety and production goals.
  • Ensure accurate and timely repair tracking, reporting, and customer updates.
  • Monitor and report KPIs including productivity, turnaround, and cost metrics.
  • Participate in and support safety and quality audits.
  • Oversee billing accuracy and timely completion.
  • Support employee development, onboarding, and training initiatives.
  • Lead and reinforce continuous improvement and visual management practices.
  • Directly manage site employees and daily operations.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, performance management, and employee development.
  • Lead disciplinary actions and conflict resolution in accordance with company policies.
