About The Position

The Field Manager supports the work of MFPS and its clients, including Mi Familia Vota and Mi Familia en Acción, by overseeing a team of canvassers conducting voter outreach and civic engagement activities within Latino communities. Working with the Civic Engagement Coordinator, State Director, and other authorized leadership, this position helps develop and implement voter-outreach strategies involving door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, text messaging, digital outreach, voter registration, voter education, and other approved direct-contact methods. The Field Manager recruits, trains, schedules, coaches, and supervises field employees; establishes daily and weekly performance goals; monitors data quality and reporting; and ensures compliance with voter-engagement, safety, timekeeping, and organizational requirements.

Requirements

Experience working during at least two field, electoral, voter-engagement, organizing, or outreach campaign cycles.
Experience serving as a regional field manager, field manager, canvass manager, field organizer, or comparable position preferred.
Experience managing, scheduling, training, coaching, and motivating high-performing field employees.
Experience developing and implementing direct voter-contact or community-outreach programs.
Experience using electoral databases and training employees on voter-contact systems.
Experience establishing performance goals, accountability processes, and reporting systems.
Experience working with Latino communities, communities of color, or other diverse communities preferred.
Strong knowledge of field operations, canvassing, voter registration, voter education, phone banking, text messaging, and direct voter-contact practices.
Excellent supervisory, coaching, delegation, team-building, and leadership skills.

If driving is an assigned duty, the employee must maintain a valid driver’s license, legally required automobile insurance, an acceptable driving record, and access to a safe and reliable vehicle unless an organizational vehicle is provided.
The employee must meet all eligibility, appointment, training, and certification requirements applicable to individuals who oversee, collect, or submit voter-registration applications in the assigned jurisdiction.
Depending on applicable law, this may include being registered or eligible to register to vote.
Ability to work at a computer and operate standard office and field technology equipment for extended periods.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, community members, partners, and other stakeholders.
Ability to facilitate virtual and in-person meetings, trainings, presentations, and field briefings.
Ability to move throughout office, event, field, partner, and community locations.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Civic Engagement Coordinator, State Director, and other authorized employees to develop and implement voter-outreach strategies.
Translate campaign goals into field plans, schedules, staffing assignments, target audiences, outreach methods, and performance measures.
Coordinate door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, text messaging, digital outreach, voter registration, voter education, and other approved field activities.
Integrate in-person, telephone, text, and digital voter-contact activities.
Establish daily and weekly voter-contact, recruitment, registration, engagement, and mobilization goals.
Monitor field implementation and make operational adjustments within delegated authority.
Identify barriers, staffing needs, resource constraints, and performance gaps and communicate them to the supervisor.
Ensure field activities appropriately distinguish between and align with the legally permissible work of MFV and MFA.
Ensure persuasion, electoral, or other partisan activities are conducted only for an organization legally permitted to engage in those activities.
Promote accurate, respectful, culturally responsive, ethical, and non-misleading community engagement.
Supervise and support canvassers, canvass leads, and other assigned field employees.
Establish clear job expectations, work schedules, shift assignments, daily goals, turf, scripts, and reporting requirements.
Conduct pre-shift briefings, post-shift debriefings, team meetings, individual check-ins, and field observations.
Monitor attendance, timekeeping, productivity, quality, conduct, safety, and compliance.
Provide employees with regular feedback, coaching, recognition, retraining, and professional-development support.
Motivate employees to meet or exceed approved voter-contact, recruitment, registration, and engagement goals while maintaining quality.
Identify employee development needs and provide appropriate coaching or escalation.
Address performance, attendance, conduct, scheduling, safety, or workplace concerns in coordination with the supervisor and Human Resources.

Ensure employees accurately record all time worked and receive required meal and rest periods.
Assess field staffing needs based on approved campaign goals, timelines, budgets, and anticipated workload.

Recruit and support the hiring of qualified canvassers and other assigned field employees.
Develop staff schedules, shift assignments, supervisory coverage, transportation plans, and contingency plans.
Ensure new employees complete required onboarding, voter-registration, safety, data, technology, timekeeping, and job-specific training.
Coordinate access to approved systems, equipment, identification, materials, scripts, and field resources.
Monitor staffing levels, attendance, turnover, and capacity and recommend appropriate changes.
Avoid making employment, compensation, scheduling, or disciplinary commitments beyond delegated authority.
Develop and provide training for canvassers and other assigned field employees.
Train employees on approved scripts, voter outreach, voter registration, voter education, phone banking, text messaging, digital tools, and field procedures.
Train employees to use electoral databases, canvassing applications, dialers, texting platforms, and other approved systems.

Model effective, culturally responsive, and respectful outreach practices for field employees.
Respond to routine community questions and refer legal, policy, media, complaint, or other complex matters to the appropriate supervisor.

Design, document, implement, and improve field data-management practices across approved platforms.
Ensure consistent data collection for door-to-door, phone, text, digital, voter-registration, and other voter-contact activities.
Collaborate with data employees to establish data definitions, coding, reporting, quality-control, and submission procedures.
Monitor use of VAN, MiniVAN, EveryAction, dialers, texting platforms, spreadsheets, and other approved systems.
Review field data and reports for accuracy, completeness, consistency, reliability, and timely entry.
Identify missing, duplicate, inconsistent, unsupported, or potentially inaccurate information and coordinate correction.
Train employees to enter and maintain field data correctly.
Promptly report suspected data falsification, manipulation, loss, unauthorized access, or other serious concerns.
Protect confidential voter, community, employee, and organizational information.
Use data only for authorized organizational purposes.
Follow all required reporting procedures and submit complete and timely daily, weekly, and campaign reports.
Prepare field updates concerning staffing, schedules, performance, voter contacts, data quality, incidents, resource needs, and emerging concerns.
Maintain clear and regular communication with the Civic Engagement Coordinator, State Director, data employees, and other authorized leaders.
Conduct routine team meetings and communicate organizational and campaign updates.
Maintain accurate records of staffing, assignments, turf, training, field activity, performance, coaching, incidents, and follow-up actions.
Organize and prioritize critical information to support efficient decision-making.
Promptly escalate significant operational, staffing, safety, compliance, data, or reputational concerns.
Participate in state and national planning meetings, trainings, and campaign activities as requested.
Follow all applicable laws, regulations, deadlines, and organizational procedures governing voter registration and voter engagement.
Ensure employees complete required training before collecting or handling voter-registration applications.
Monitor required form-custody, tracking, storage, review, and submission procedures.
Ensure voter-registration applications are never altered, discarded, withheld, falsified, prefilled without authorization, or used for an unauthorized purpose.
Immediately report suspected misconduct, falsification, form mishandling, coercion, misrepresentation, or other compliance concerns.
Cooperate with quality-control reviews, audits, investigations, and corrective-action processes.
Obtain and maintain any registration, designation, appointment, certification, or training required to supervise voter-registration activities in the assigned jurisdiction.
Implement and enforce applicable workplace and field health, safety, security, and operational protocols.
Train employees on heat and weather precautions, situational awareness, check-in procedures, de-escalation, transportation safety, and incident reporting.
Monitor weather, traffic, neighborhood, animal, environmental, and other conditions that may affect field safety.
Maintain regular communication with employees during field activities.
Respond promptly to missed check-ins, injuries, threats, harassment, confrontations, vehicle incidents, law-enforcement interactions, or other emergencies.
Stop or modify field activities and contact appropriate leadership when conditions present a potential safety risk.
Document and report incidents according to established procedures.
Avoid making legal, media, medical, law-enforcement, or employment decisions beyond delegated authority.
Cooperate with post-incident reviews and corrective or preventive measures.
Collaborate with state leadership and campaigns, programs, data, communications, digital, operations, and Human Resources employees.
Coordinate staffing, technology, materials, data, training, messaging, and other resources required for field implementation.
Maintain professional and constructive relationships with community partners and other stakeholders.
Support rapid-response activities, voter-registration deadlines, election-cycle operations, and special projects.
Travel to field sites, organizational locations, partner sites, and community events as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
