About The Position

The Field Maintenance Technician (FMT) will assist the organizational maintainer with all required maintenance and maintenance beyond the scope of Field Maintenance. FMT personnel are part of the Battalion Technical Assistance Team and are considered Mission Essential. FMTs shall be prepared to deploy with US military units, when relocated on tactical contingency missions outside the continental United States to include theaters of combat. FMTs will provide Field Maintenance Support to Lower Tier Air Missile Defense Systems (LTAMDS). In addition, the FMT is required to perform Sustainment Level diagnosis and technical assistance as required. This position will remain in an unaccompanied deployable status. Selected candidate must be able to travel for work assignments to include deployment to work locations at various sites both worldwide. This position will be located at White Sands Missile Range, NM and will require deployment to an offsite or foreign location with an immediate response time on a long-term assignment. The selected candidate will be assigned to a team, embedded with a US Army. Employee assignments, deployments, and support are aligned to the US Army mission.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of depot forward maintenance experience and be Contractor Logistics School Qualified or be a graduate of the U.S. Army PATRIOT Intermediate Maintenance School or Radar Repairer (94S) field experience or have 5 years PATRIOT Field Engineering experience with specific PATRIOT hardware fault isolation experience at depot-forward maintenance level.
  • Knowledge and experience in the utilization of Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment, such as: Torque Wrench, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, power meters, frequency counters, spectrum, and digital analyzers.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs).
  • Experience in the frequent use and general knowledge of sustainment practices, techniques, and standards.
  • Must have successfully completed one of the following Courses: U.S. Army Patriot System repairer Course for MOS; 27X, 35S,94S, 948D(6D) or an equivalent course of instruction conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army Air Defense School or the Patriot Missile System Contractor.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • General knowledge of the IBCS C2 Node (EOC) and interface, known as the Maintainer Monitoring Modules (M3) and the following M3 mission functions, Support Functions, and non-tactical functions is desired but not required.
  • The FMT shall have the ability to use TDME to enable further fault isolation.
  • Understanding and knowledge of military communications systems and encryption devices.
  • Understand Ground positioning systems (GPS) and experienced in/or hold a Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA’s) Network+ certification.
  • Data offloading skills.
  • Linux experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to organizational personnel.
  • Fault isolate, to a Line replaceable unit, faults not isolated by organizational personnel.
  • Repair selected items with provided tools and equipment.
  • Perform all designated FSR tasks employing FSR tools and test equipment.
  • Collect data for communication with Sustainment, Depot, and OEM Maintenance Personnel on unresolved faults.
  • Perform generalized procedures employing specific TM information.
  • The FMT shall be available for assistance in data collection/transmission to other locations, such as the depot or the prime contractor facilities, after repairs for possible evaluation that may require system modification or updates.
  • Correlate, analyze, and interpret data per defined procedures/guidelines.
  • Participate in on-the-job training programs, and assists the section in enforcing safety policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Identifies faulty work practices and demonstrates proper maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
