Highway Maintenance Section Person A - Carbella / Emigrant
About The Position
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting for a Carbella / Emigrant Field Maintenance Supervisor. This role is responsible for planning and delivering maintenance projects such as pavement overlays, bridge repairs, chip seals, drainage systems, and winter road maintenance, all of which involve multiple safety, engineering, and environmental considerations. The scope of duties includes coordinating and performing various maintenance projects, coordinating Section operations, and supervising and performing a variety of other duties as assigned. The incumbent reports to the Division Maintenance Superintendent and provides supervision for the Carbella/Emigrant Section Maintenance staff, including both permanent and temporary employees. The work schedule is primarily a day job, but call-ins regularly occur, and the schedule may be adjusted as needed. On-site housing is available pending an MDT housing agreement.
Requirements
- Five (5) years of construction/field maintenance-related experience
- Six (6) months of direct or one (1) year of indirect supervisory experience, preferably maintenance, construction, or another relevant field
- A valid Montana Commercial Operators License (Class A, Type II) with no restrictions, a tank endorsement and a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC)
- Bachelor’s Degree in: Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Business Management, Business Administration, or Public Administration
- One (1) year of work-related experience
- A valid Montana Commercial Operators License (Class A, Type II) with endorsements for air brakes and tankers is required with no restriction for operating a manual transmission.
- Must live or relocate within 30 road miles of the work headquarters and must have a telephone or be reasonably accessible to the section headquarters.
