About The Position

The Field Layout Tech is responsible for the field layout of point files using Trimble Robotic Total Station (RTS). This role involves interpreting plans, drawings, and specifications to determine precise locations for electrical systems. The Field Layout Tech will coordinate and plan activities, aligning with project teams to ensure control points are established prior to layout dates. They will prioritize and establish on-site dates with project teams, review plans and point files before layout, and work with field teams to spot-check the reliability of RTS point layouts. This position acts as a liaison between the VC Team and Project Teams regarding RTS layout activities and serves as a subject matter expert, providing support and guidance on layout and measurement issues. The role may also involve generating creation of point layout files as workload permits, operating, maintaining, and calibrating RTS equipment, and recording as-built data points using RTS when needed. Assisting with operating other field technologies may also be part of the role.

Requirements

High School Degree/GED/Equivalent
3-5 years experience working in construction industry
Experience using Trimble RTS or similar/relates software/equipment
Experience using Trimble Field Link or similar layout software
Working knowledge of field layout techniques
Ability to be on-site at various project locations throughout the DFW area
High attention to detail
Able to work semi-independently and keep RTS equipment operating effectively
Ability to meet all safety requirements of project sites; proper PPE, etc.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver equipment safely and as required
Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
Must wear proper PPE while on jobsites.
Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
Sit, stand, and walk during the duration of the workday.
Will lift, carry, push, pull, kneel, crouch, and reach.

Nice To Haves

Experience in electrical construction a plus
Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or Layout Point Software
May be any combination of field, CAD, or BIM experience

Responsibilities

Field layout of point files using Trimble Robotic Total Station (RTS)
Interpret plans/drawings and specifications to determine precise locations for electrical systems
Trimble Activity Coordination & Planning; Alignment with Project Team(s) to ensure control points are established prior to date of layout
Prioritize and establish dates needed on site with Project Team(s)
Review plans and point files prior to date of layout
Work with Field team(s) to spot check reliability of RTS point layout
Acts as liaison between VC Team and Project Team(s) as it relates to RTS layout activities
Acts as subject matter expert providing support and guidance to teams regarding layout and measurement issues
Generates creation of point layout files as workload permits
Operate, maintain and calibrate the RTS equipment
Records as-built data points using RTS when needed
Position may include assisting with operating other field technologies when needed
