About The Position

The Field Laborer will be responsible for positioning, connecting, and aligning precast concrete elements according to construction drawings. This role involves placing grout, securing the construction site, and performing routine maintenance. The laborer will also operate heavy-duty tools, communicate via hand signals for crane operation, and may be involved in welding and operating equipment like forklifts. Participation in site safety audits is also a responsibility.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent
  • One year jobsite experience, preferably with precast concrete products
  • Passion for safety
  • Must be comfortable working from heights
  • Understanding of all Federal and State OSHA regulations regarding jobsite safety requirements.
  • Capacity to remain calm even during stressful driving conditions.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Attention to detail and care to do the job right.
  • Good verbal communications skills
  • Strong aptitude for reading blueprints
  • Skilled in use of power tools (saws, drills, lasers and transits)
  • Strong problem solving abilities
  • Good organization and planning skills
  • Accurate reading of tape measurements
  • Basic math concepts to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Certified overhead welder
  • Forklift certification
  • OSHA 10/30

Responsibilities

  • Position, connect, and align precast concrete elements according to construction drawings.
  • Place grout in keyways, column bases, and beam caps according to construction drawings.
  • Help secure and maintain a safe construction site.
  • Set up fall protection-guardrails and routinely look for changing conditions and safety hazards.
  • Perform routine maintenance/housekeeping of jobsite to maintain order and safe conditions.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment and supplies being used.
  • Inform foreman of needed repairs and restocking of supplies.
  • Excavate with shovels as directed.
  • Use heavy-duty hammer drills and saws to break up or shorten concrete elements.
  • Send and receive OSHA compliant hand signals for safe crane operation.
  • Perform welding, including overhead welding.
  • Move vehicles as instructed.
  • Use forklift and other small equipment as required.
  • Participate in site safety audits via company provided tablet when requested.
