About The Position

As a Field Intern, you'll spend the summer on a Hutton job site gaining hands-on experience, building relationships, and seeing firsthand how we show up for the communities we serve. This role is designed to complement your education and immerse you in Hutton's culture. Depending on your experience and background, you'll take on a variety of tasks alongside our field teammates. If you're looking to build connections in the construction industry while still in school, this role is for you.

Requirements

• Actively pursuing a 4-year degree, Construction Management or Construction Science is preferred, but not required.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to follow safety protocols (OSHA & Hutton standards).
• A team-first mindset and willingness to take direction.
• Communicates clearly and works well within a team.
• Solves problems quickly and professionally.
• Comfort working indoors and outdoors in various weather.

Nice To Haves

• Previous construction experience is encouraged.
• Understands building codes, design, inspection procedures, and scheduling.
• Working knowledge on construction software (Bluebeam, ProCore, CMiC, etc.)
• Reads and interprets plans and specifications accurately.
• Leadership experience (either on school clubs, team sports, or professionally).

Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading materials and keeping the job site clean, organized, and ready for the next phase of work.
• Operating construction tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Supporting skilled tradesmen and craftworkers to keep the project moving forward.
• Completing a variety of on-site tasks as directed by your supervisor.
• Assisting the superintendent in coordinating daily work activities and maintaining short-term schedules to keep the project on track.
• Monitoring jobsite safety, quality, and progress—ensuring work aligns with plans and meets company standards.
• Supervising assigned subcontractors, ensure team members have proper tools and materials.
