About The Position

Municon West Coast provides geotechnical and structural instrumentation services for the monitoring of heavy construction works including highways, tunnels, deep excavations, large buildings, heavy fills, and bridges. Municon is a growing company working in a fast-paced environment. The equipment and techniques used are on the cutting edge of the remote monitoring and photo documentation industries. We are looking for a Field Instrumentation Technician to execute the field (onsite) portion of instrumentation and monitoring projects while also fully executing photo documentation projects. Office support tasks will be a secondary objective. This is a full-time position based in San Francisco, CA. This position does not require previous experience with photo documentation, instrumentation, or monitoring processes and/or equipment – training will be provided. Entry-level and experienced candidates are all encouraged to apply. Base salary will be commensurate with experience. Cover letter is strongly encouraged.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid motor vehicle license and clean driving record.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • Comfortable working at elevated heights and on ladders.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and character on all job sites and with all customers.
  • Basic skills in Word, Adobe, Bluebeam, Excel
  • Timeliness to job sites or the shop is mandatory.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in geotechnical instrumentation or construction experience is a bonus.
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting technical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Work with our team in California to execute photo documentation projects, as well as the deployment , maintenance, troubleshooting and removal of instrumentation and monitoring equipment on the United States west coast.
  • Deploy and maintain all monitoring instruments in the field.
  • Execute photo documentation projects by using photo and video technology to document the existing condition of buildings and structures. This includes flying a drone for some projects.
  • Work directly with customers and contractors onsite to provide technical services.
  • Provide customer assistance by reporting problems to management.
  • Provide customer feedback to management team.
  • Travel on the west coast will be required. The majority of work is in the Bay area around San Francisco, but overnight travel to other areas on the west coast will be required.
  • Upon being hired, the employee will be required to obtain a Drone Operator certificate.
  • Willingness to work in confined spaces (appropriate training provided).
  • Perform hands-on field work and proficiently operate power tools, saws, drills and light duty equipment, bend conduit and build electrical junction boxes as per project demands.
  • Ensure all instrumentation installations follow project plans, specifications, and engineering direction.
  • Maintain compliance with safety requirements and job site-specific protocols.
