About The Position

Our client is seeking a Field Installation Manager to support high-volume commercial door and gate service operations across the Greater Sacramento area. This is a hands-on, field-driven role focused on troubleshooting, estimating, scheduling, and supporting installation crews. This is a newly created position designed to alleviate workload from leadership and improve field efficiency. The ideal candidate brings strong service-based experience (not just new installs) and can confidently manage multiple jobs, crews, and customer needs in real time. The role is primarily field-based with high daily activity and includes a 6-month training period working closely with internal leadership. It is a high-impact position with the opportunity to help shape operations. Occasional after-hours phone support is required, with limited weekend work. Candidates willing to relocate to the Sacramento area are open. The company is described as stable and growing with consistent project volume.

Requirements

  • Strong background in commercial door and gate service/installation
  • Experience with a majority of the following systems: Automatic doors (SIG or similar), Storefront doors, Hollow metal doors, Solid core/wood doors, Overhead doors, Dock equipment, Gates and gate operators
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues in the field
  • Experience running estimates and coordinating service work
  • Comfortable managing multiple jobs and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Commercial door experience (hands-on)
  • Must be in commercial—not residential
  • Service / repair / troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with multiple door systems (Ideally 3–4+ of the following: Automatic doors (SIG or similar), Storefront doors, Hollow metal doors, Overhead doors, Gates / gate operators, Dock equipment)
  • Ability to troubleshoot independently (Can diagnose issues in the field or over the phone)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience across all listed door and gate systems
  • Prior leadership or crew supervision experience
  • Knowledge of compliance standards and safety regulations
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Previous Experience with one of these competitors: Vortex, Industrial Door Company, R&S Doors
  • Prior leadership or crew management experience (Managing 1–2 man crews is a plus)
  • Experience with SIG automatic doors specifically
  • Strong estimating background (Especially if they’ve owned quotes end-to-end)
  • Experience sourcing parts/vendors independently
  • Knowledge of compliance (ADA, fire-rated doors, safety standards)
  • Experience in high-volume service environments (HVAC, facilities, commercial service industries, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily field operations across 10–20 active service jobs
  • Troubleshoot issues in the field and remotely support technicians by phone
  • Run service estimates and scope job requirements
  • Coordinate and schedule 1–2 person installation/service crews
  • Source parts, materials, and equipment needed for repairs and installs
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and to quality standards
  • Communicate with customers, vendors, and internal teams to keep projects moving
  • Support compliance with safety and industry standards (ADA, fire code, etc.)
  • Partner closely with leadership during a 6-month training period
