About The Position

The Ministry of Agriculture & Irrigation is responsible for policies, legislation, regulations and services necessary for Alberta’s agriculture and food sectors to grow, prosper and diversify; inspiring public confidence in the quality and safety of food; supporting environmentally sustainable resource management practices; leading collaboration that enables safe and resilient rural communities. The work of the Inspection and Investigation Section (IIS) focuses on providing a regulatory environment that contributes to and enhances the growth of a globally competitive and sustainable agriculture and food industry. The IIS contributes to the security and safety of the animal and food systems by providing effective and efficient inspection, licensing, investigation, audit assurance, and enforcement of 9 Acts and 10 Regulations assigned to the Section as well as related legislation assigned to other branches within Agriculture. The IIS is also mandated to ensure that Alberta remains rat free and oversees the Wild Boar Program. Step into a unique field-based role where your attention to detail directly supports safe and responsible pesticide use across Alberta. As a Field Inspector, you will work at the intersection of science, stewardship, and real-world application—collecting critical data, verifying compliance, and helping ensure high-risk products are used safely and responsibly. If you enjoy hands-on work, operating independently in the field, and contributing to regulatory integrity without enforcement responsibility, this is a meaningful opportunity to play a key role in protecting both people and the environment.
