About The Position

We are currently seeking a proactive and experienced Field Inspector to support active construction and infrastructure improvement projects across multiple NYCHA portfolios throughout New York City. This role involves oversight of installations related to CCTV systems , Layered Access Control (LAC) , exterior site lighting , and improvements to community centers and playgrounds . The ideal candidate will be responsible for on-site inspection, coordination with contractors and stakeholders, and regular reporting using NYCHA's Trimble system. The role requires frequent travel between sites and flexibility to respond to evolving project needs.

Requirements

  • 3–7 years of field inspection, site supervision, or construction coordination experience.
  • Preferred experience with security system installations (CCTV, LAC), low-voltage electrical, exterior lighting, and general site work.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Familiarity with Trimble or similar construction/project management platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to lead field discussions and coordinate between multiple trade
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel to multiple project sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working on NYCHA , DASNY , or other public sector projects.
  • OSHA 30 Certification or NYCHA SST Card.
  • Experience in public housing, security infrastructure, or playground/community center improvement projects.
  • Basic familiarity with MEP trades, civil/site scopes, and access control technologies

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections and ensure contractor work aligns with approved drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Read, interpret, and verify contractor drawings and shop submittals.
  • Coordinate field activities across various trades and provide input on manpower allocation as needed.
  • Prepare and submit detailed daily reports and field notes using Trimble (NYCHA’s construction management software).
  • Conduct and participate in on-site meetings with stakeholders, community representatives, and NYCHA project teams.
  • Identify, document, and escalate any field discrepancies or quality issues.
  • Support punch list walkthroughs, closeout inspections, and progress documentation.
  • Travel regularly across project sites within all five boroughs of New York City.
