About The Position
Ironsmith Fire, LLC is seeking a Field Helper to join their team. The primary responsibility of this role is to work alongside foremen and journeymen in performing installations, modifications, and repairs to fire sprinkler systems. This includes working with steel and CPVC piping, fire pumps, standpipe systems, hose systems, and assisting the underground/site division when necessary. The role spans from project initiation to final delivery and requires professionalism and a desire to learn a skilled trade. Requirements
- Willingness to learn the basics of fire sprinkler systems and various tools needed to fulfill the job duties.
- A “do what it takes” attitude.
- Willingness to learn the basics of understanding blueprints and ability to read fire sprinkler shop drawings.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Reliable transportation to get to the jobsite on time.
- Willingness to travel including overnight to job sites.
- High-level attention to details and documentation precision.
- Willingness to learn the basics of NFPA standards, Building codes, and Local Ordinances.
- Ability to pivot and adapt to each job.
- Willingness to understand and learn the importance and necessity for memorable, quality customer service.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of tools is preferred.
- High school diploma or alternative.
Nice To Haves
- Ability to speak Spanish a plus, but not required.
- Apprentices in the Daywork Division will be part of a rotating on-call shift to handle emergency service calls.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the foreman and journeyman while performing installations, making modifications or repairs to fire sprinkler systems in accordance with approved shop drawings, NFPA standards, and local codes.
- Install steel and CPVC piping, fire pumps, standpipe systems, and hose systems.
- Assist the underground/site division when necessary.
- Implement safety protocols to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries on job sites.
- Uphold commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and unparalleled customer service by adhering to industry standards and best practices.
- Use approved shop drawings to interpret installation requirement details accurately and entirely.
- Notify the foreman of any deviations from the plan and/or potential field changes.
- Perform all tasks delegated by the foreman to assist in fulfilling project completion deadlines, meet scheduling requirements, and exceed goals.
- Assist the foreman in installing and testing installations of fire sprinkler systems in new or existing construction projects.
- Follow designed plans and communicate needed design changes to fit actual site requirements to the foreman.
- Perform minor fabrication on job site.
- Install fire sprinkler systems as designed by the Ironsmith Fire design department without deviation.

- Perform other duties assigned by management.

- Any required State and Local certifications required for installing fire sprinkler systems will be obtained and paid for by Ironsmith Fire once in this position.
