About The Position

The Field Health & Safety Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the well-being of our employees, protecting company assets, and supporting environmental stewardship. This role is responsible for leading and advancing our safety culture by developing, implementing, and maintaining effective health and safety programs that meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in the oil, gas, and mining sectors and understands the unique risks, hazards, and operational demands within these industries. The Field Health & Safety Manager is responsible for on-site injury and illness training and management, while ensuring that the health & safety culture and program are strong and followed in compliance with provincial regulations. Training and managing the incident investigation process and delivery of an injury and illness management are essential for this role. This role must reside in the Kamloops area and operate out of the Kamloops Corporate Office when not in the field. Regular travel to communities we operate in is required. This role collaborates with the Corporate Health & Safety Manager and provides backup coverage.

Requirements

  • CRSP Required.
  • Experience with ISNet, Avetta, and similar platforms is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Health and Safety Officer in the mining, construction, and/or oil & gas industries.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, Workers Compensation, as well as related provincial regulations and legislation.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and training skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Willingness to travel to various worksites regularly, as well as being on-call for emergencies.
  • Complete drug and alcohol screening with a negative result.
  • Provide copies of current certifications (if you do not have any of the required on-site training, we will provide it to you).
  • Clean driver's abstract and a valid Class 5 license.

Nice To Haves

  • Other Health & Safety certification in Canada is an asset.
  • Experience with health and safety management software and implementation of an SMS program is a definite asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, communicate, and maintain comprehensive health and safety programs, policies, and procedures in line with industry best practices and applicable regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support to management and employees on health and safety matters, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation. Ensuring the approach is collaborative and creating a positive safety culture.
  • Develop and deliver health and safety training programs to enhance employee awareness and knowledge of safety procedures, hazard recognition, and emergency response.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses and collaborate with management to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions. Ensure that regular notifications are being shared across the company.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with customers’ health and safety teams to support an effective safety partnership and sustain a robust safety program that protects our employees.
  • Monitor and report on health and safety performance, trends, and key performance indicators to senior management, and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders to keep abreast of changes in health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Conducts site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements as required. Must train site leaders in performing these tasks and maintaining documentation as required.
  • Create and participate in emergency response planning and drills, and serve as a member of the emergency response team.
  • Works collaboratively with the Corporate Health & Safety Manager.
  • Other related tasks as required, in addition to covering the Corporate Health & Safety Manager as needed.
