About The Position

Intertek is seeking a Field Geologist/Engineer to join their Professional Services Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Columbus, OH. This role offers a career growth opportunity within the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry. Intertek-PSI is a leading US-based provider of construction assurance, testing, and inspection services, offering a wide range of services including construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.

Requirements

  • If no experience, a 2/4-year degree in Geology, Engineering (applicable engineering field), Construction, or Earth Science from an accredited / ABET school is required.
  • If no degree, 1+ years' experience in Geotechnical Drilling Operations and/or experience with site subsurface explorations or related activities may substitute for degree.
  • Must have basic math, calculator, and computer skills.
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening) and solid interpersonal skills are required.
  • The ability to read and understand work plans is required.
  • Must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to travel as business needs dictate, 50-75% of the time.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of assignments including coordination of field activities with the home office, boring layout, utility clearance, oversight of drilling and sampling operations to project requirements, sample and subsurface logging of conditions.
  • Provide representation in the field during the execution of Geotechnical Explorations of the subsurface.
  • Develop close, interpersonal relations with clients, subcontractors, and PSI staff to execute work to project specifications.
  • Prepare subsurface exploration field drilling logs.
  • Maintain and leverage client relationships and develop new project opportunities.
  • Attend client site meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with client and project teams.
  • Work on one or multiple projects at a time.
  • Perform on-site observations, sample collection, and specific field tests.
  • May work both in the field and laboratory occasionally.
  • Be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.
