About The Position

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) is looking to hire a detail-oriented part-time Field Enumerator to perform tasks that support our organization. This position involves collecting agricultural data on behalf of the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). The role requires interviewing farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural businesses, potentially traveling to fields for crop counts, and maintaining detailed records. The work is conducted from a residence with an operable telephone and requires a personal vehicle for travel.

Requirements

Experience multitasking in an energetic, deadline-oriented work environment.
Ability to positively represent NASDA and the benefits of enumerators in all survey actions.
Ability to make crop counts in designated fields.
Ability to maintain a reliable personal vehicle.
Ability to conduct interviews in person or by telephone with farm operators and other individuals.
Knowledge about computers or iPads.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to demonstrate good time management in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated.
Enjoy working as part of a team.
Organized.
Able to maintain a positive and friendly attitude.
Willing to travel in Lynn and Dawson Counties and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

Interview farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural businesses either in person or on the phone.
Travel to designated fields to perform crop counts.
Maintain and deliver detailed and legible records of interviews, crop counts, mileage, expenditures, and hours worked.
Conduct enumerator work from a residence with an operable telephone free from distractions.
Maintain a personal vehicle to travel for field enumerator duties.
