About The Position

V2X is looking for a Field Engineering Manager to support the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s Perimeter Intrusion and Detection System (PIDS) deployed at the metro NY airports. The PIDS Field Engineering Manager works as part of a New York/New Jersey based team that designs, builds, integrates, tests and supports this 24 7 operational surveillance system. This position involves a supervisor role of PIDS field personnel and management of resources for activities at JFK & LaGuardia airports in New York City or Newark & Teterboro airports in New Jersey. Activities include system modifications & maintenance and technology refresh & deployment. The selected candidate should be self-starting and inquisitive with strong analytical and problem solving skills, good written and verbal communication skills and thrive in the challenges of working in an operational environment. The candidate must live in the New York City / Northern New Jersey metro area and be able to work from our offices at either the Newark, LaGuardia or JFK airports.

Requirements

  • This individual must have the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Windows/Microsoft products including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to obtain SIDA badge from the assigned airports
  • A minimum of 10 years professional experience including 5 years supporting operational systems.
  • Experience leading a team of 5+ field technicians and support personnel
  • Experience managing subcontractors on small or large projects
  • A two-year technical degree, an accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field.
  • Climbing up and down stairs/ladders, as required.
  • Driving program vehicles (SUV primarily)

Responsibilities

  • Interfacing with airport security managers and V2X technical staff for prioritizing and scheduling work to be performed on the security systems.
  • Lead or support the planning and deployment of new infrastructure, sensors, software releases or time critical system changes
  • Interface with PMO & Engineering for system monitoring that includes analyzing network performance, resource utilization, sensor performance and mission specific applications.
  • Field survey escorts and oversight of subcontractors for ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Supervisory role as functional manager for field technicians including weekly timecard approval, goal planning, performance monitoring & reviews, & conflict resolution.
