Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Must obtain Engineer Intern Enrollment (Engineering in Training Certification) within one year of employment
  • Engineering degree programs must be EAC/ABET accredited or evaluated by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) as equivalent to an accredited degree
  • Bachelor's degree must be from an EAC/ABET-accredited program or evaluated as equivalent by NCEES
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation
  • Requires occasional out of town travel and working extended hours to meet deadlines
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required
  • Effective communication skills are required to perform the essential functions of this job
  • Candidates may be required to work extended hours that may include nights, evenings, and weekends
  • Depending on the time of year and assigned construction projects, applicants may be required to work outside in the elements for an extended period of time

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Successful completion of FE/EIT examination
  • Experience in roadway design and/or highway construction

Responsibilities

  • Performs engineering assignments related to construction
  • Applies engineering management principles to construction projects
  • Performs, coordinates, or supervises inspection and survey work on construction projects
  • Prepares project records, reports, and estimates
  • Interprets plans for contractors, resolves field issues, and organizes work activities
  • Provides project construction information to contractors, landowners, public officials, and the public
  • Performs other duties as assigned
