About The Position

The Field Engineer will be responsible for ensuring safety is a priority by following Safe Work Practices that conform with the Company’s Safety Program and client worksite policies. They will promote company Core Values to foster and safeguard Company culture. This role participates in the RFP processes, completing a detailed review of plans, specifications, and bid packages. The Field Engineer provides close support to the Project Manager and/or Senior Project Manager, evaluates and suggests improvements to processes used by Project Delivery Teams, and manages, mentors, and develops colleagues. They interact with the customer to validate understanding of expectations before, during, and after project completion, and aid in providing close support and oversight for subcontractors. The Field Engineer leads field validation of telecom design, proactively identifying conflicts or gaps and collaborating with CM, PM, and customer for resolution through the RFI process. They manage the project review process with emphasis on constructability, value engineering options, and design discrepancies/clashes. This role owns the implementation and oversight of electronic tracking systems and custom dashboards to drive real-time visibility into task progress, crew productivity, and issue resolution. Responsibilities include daily/weekly reporting, issue escalation, and coordination with project managers and general contractors, as well as proactive and systematic communication of challenges, risks, and successes. The Field Engineer coordinates with Project Superintendent(s) to understand and assess installation methods, labor needs, and manpower forecasts, and supports QA/QC by ensuring adherence to Quality Control plans and processes. They ensure downstream team members meet deadlines, review contracts, work orders, and purchase orders to understand contractual requirements, and cultivate and maintain customer relationships. The Field Engineer works with the field operations team to ensure proper materials and equipment are available, coordinates with the customer for acceptance and signoff, and demonstrates ownership of the change management process. They partner closely with QA/QC teams, review and validate test results, maintain up-to-date redlines, and lead the preparation of closeout documentation.

Requirements

  • Must be proficient and well-practiced in leveraging information and data in making informed decisions.
  • Extensive knowledge of Safety protocols, processes and procedures.
  • Deep understanding of industry specific estimating and engineering best practices.
  • Ability to identify change events.
  • Knowledge of various construction technology platforms, quality, and safety standards.
  • Ability to understand and develop project schedules.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills, including excellent customer service skills.
  • Disciplined, detail oriented, organized, and self-driven.
  • Demonstrated skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to mentor junior field staff, lead site walks, and represent the telecom discipline in cross functional meetings.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and influence without direct authority.
  • Proficient in using a computer and business / industry applications - Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.), Bluebeam, Procore, Textura and others.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree Construction Management, Engineering or other related discipline. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in the construction industry in a similar role.
  • Experience with large, structured cabling projects and/or data center construction projects highly preferred.
  • OSHA-30 Hour certification (if not certified at time of hire, certifications must be obtained within first six (6) months of employment)

  • Demonstrate ownership of the change management process—actively identify scope impacts, initiate timely communication with stakeholders, and drive resolution to maintain schedule and project alignment.
  • Partner closely with QA/QC teams. Regularly review and validate test results (OTDR, Power Meter, etc.).
  • Maintain up to date redlines throughout the build lifecycle.
  • Lead the preparation of closeout documentation, ensuring timely, organized, and customer-ready submittals.
