About The Position

The Field Engineer applies basic concepts and techniques to plan projects, develops basic installation drawings, and contributes to intermediate project milestones. This role works closely with various trades, receiving input from Cost Managers & Project Management to determine the most efficient and cost-effective solutions. Field Engineers follow designs from beginning to end, including survey, drafting, installation drawings, manufacturing, installation, and final acceptance. They also manage sub-contractor coordination and engineering, while integrating Multidisciplinary Engineering Design and promoting individual learning to achieve desired solutions. Requirements

  • Proficiency in basic engineering computations and analysis.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and computer skills.
  • Strong understanding of teamwork and the impact that an individual has on group success.
  • Ability to accept firm guidance from management.
  • Must be safety oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • 10-hour and/or 30-hour OSHA certificates are preferred.
  • Proficiencies in the use of AutoCAD preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Project Engineers, Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen and Crews on Project Deliverables.
  • Process/manage material deliveries – ensure that materials received are properly inspected for quantity and quality and follow contract documents.
  • Assist with management of subcontractor and material contracts.
  • Assist in developing and updating the project schedule.
  • Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals.
  • Maintain a complete and current record of submittals, approvals and resubmittals, including a file of letters of transmittal and dates of each transaction.
  • Varying levels of involvement in the operations of our cost control system and analysis of construction costs.
  • Accumulate all necessary data and assist with preparation of monthly pay requisitions.
  • Prepare required reports and documentation.
  • Perform surveys.
  • Follow lead from PM/APM/Project Engineers to administer day-to-day activities such as planning access and preparing work plans and safe work plans.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
