About The Position

Thalle Construction Co., Inc. is seeking a Field Engineer for the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) A-2 Reservoir in Palm Beach County, Florida. This significant project, valued at $2.87 billion, involves the construction of a 17.75-mile embankment dam and associated structures. The Field Engineer will support project operations to ensure a safe, productive, and quality-focused construction process. This role works closely with Superintendents and field leadership to manage daily construction activities, track progress, report on production, and coordinate field operations. The CEPP project is a key component of Everglades restoration, aiming to improve ecosystem health, water storage, and climate change resilience. Thalle Construction, established in 1947, is a heavy civil construction company with a broad range of project experience across the United States. As a representative of The Tully Group, Thalle has a long history in heavy civil projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5–10 years of field construction experience (heavy civil preferred)
  • Strong ability to track quantities, production data, and daily field activities
  • Experience working closely with Superintendents and field crews in a construction environment
  • Ability to assist with surveying and layout activities
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (required) for tracking, reporting, and data management
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and drawings
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple field tracking responsibilities
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced field environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain accurate field documentation
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with P6 scheduling software, USACE Resident Management Software, and Bluebeam preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with Superintendents and field leadership to support daily construction activities and production goals
  • Track and report production quantities, material usage, and field progress on a daily basis
  • Prepare and maintain daily field reports documenting all activities, manpower, equipment, and production
  • Assist in equipment tracking, utilization reporting, and field verification of equipment use
  • Support surveying and layout activities, including coordination of field layout data and verification of work in place
  • Assist with short-term schedules and three-week look ahead schedules in coordination with project leadership
  • Participate in daily huddles, production meetings, and coordination meetings with field teams and subcontractors
  • Support documentation of change order work, field conditions, and as-built information
  • Track project progress and production data using project management systems (including RMS where applicable)
  • Assist with coordination of subcontractors, materials, and field logistics as directed
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and actively support jobsite safety initiatives
