About The Position

Green Infrastructure Partners Inc. is seeking a high-caliber professional to lead the integration of design and field operations for complex Support-of-Excavation (SOE) and Sequential Excavation Method (SEM) projects. In this role, you will serve as the critical link between design intent and site execution within dense urban environments.

Requirements

  • B.Eng./B.Sc. in Engineering or related Discipline
  • 5-8 years in heavy civil/underground construction with direct exposure to shoring, deep excavation, and/or SEM.
  • P.Eng. (or eligible) preferred; EIT considered with strong field record.
  • Permanent Resident of Canada (or Canadian citizen).
  • Proficient with AutoCAD / Civil 3D; Bluebeam; MS Project or Primavera P6 for short-interval planning.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical design/analysis tools (e.g., Rocscience RS2/RS3 or Slide, PLAXIS, gINT) and instrumentation platforms.
  • Experience with shotcrete QA/QC and SEM documentation (e.g., core tests, rebound, layer thickness control).
  • Strong survey coordination, tolerance management, and as-built workflows
  • Calm under pressure; decisive in the face of changing ground conditions and live-urban constraints.
  • Strong communicator—able to align designers, supers, subs, and inspectors.
  • Detail-oriented with a safety-first mindset and proactive risk management.

Nice To Haves

  • Working at Heights
  • Confined Space
  • WHMIS
  • First Aid
  • rail/transit safety certifications

Responsibilities

  • Plan and sequence SEM rounds (drift headings, face support, shotcrete cycles).
  • Coordinate SOE systems (soldier piles/lagging, secant/diaphragm walls, sheet piles, tiebacks/soil nails, struts/walers).
  • Oversee excavation activities, temporary works, utility protections, and traffic staging.
  • Monitor geotechnical instrumentation (extensometers, piezometers, inclinometers, load cells); interpret trends and escalate exceedances.
  • Support dewatering plans and groundwater management in accordance with permits and discharge limits.
  • Lead ITPs, hold points, trials (e.g., shotcrete panels/cores), material approvals, and field quality records.
  • Conduct face mapping, ground classification, and daily reports (advance, support installed, stand-up time, incidents).
  • Review drawings, models, and method statements; raise RFIs; coordinate shop drawings and temporary works designs.
  • Interface with design teams (geotech/structural), survey, and subcontractors to resolve field clashes and constructability issues.
  • Validate as-builts, survey control, and settlement/convergence control measures.
  • Contribute to risk registers, trigger/action response plans, and mitigation during adverse ground conditions.
  • Develop short-interval lookahead schedules; align crews, plant, and material logistics to milestones.
  • Track production rates (advance per shift, shotcrete volumes, anchors installed).
  • Support cost control/changes (quantity tracking, time-impact analysis).
  • Enforce OHS requirements, confined space protocols, ventilation, gas testing, dust/noise management, and emergency response readiness.
  • Lead/participate in JHAs, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with permits, environmental constraints, and municipal/rail/transit corridor requirements, as applicable.

Benefits

  • Expected Base Salary: $75,000-$95,000 per year.
  • Annual performance-based bonus.
  • Comprehensive group benefits program.
  • Retirement savings program.
