ENTACT is actively seeking a Field Engineer-Water Treatment in the environmental remediation and geotechnical construction industry. Candidates must be open to sustained project-based travel within the US, at least 80% of the time. Project locations will vary depending on the assignment. Candidates can reside anywhere within the US. ENTACT offers per diem/living allowance and paid monthly trips home. Position Summary: The position of Field Engineer (FE) will focus on Water Treatment System (WTS) engineering and operations management. The FE will work closely with all members of the field team which includes management, operators, subcontractors and health and safety manager. This position includes technical support, quality control, KPI tracking, and other responsibilities related to the proper and timely execution of ENTACT projects. Must be self-motivated to meet deadlines, communicate effectively in a teamwork setting and adapt to different role/responsibilities in a fast-paced ever-changing environment. Associates may be asked to support multiple projects and must be open to periods of sustained project-based travel. Must have a valid driver’s license with no driving restrictions which interfere with job requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, civil, or environmental engineering.
  • Knowledge of Water Treatment System operating systems to include but not limited to SCADA and HMI Systems.
  • Must successfully complete the following Michigan certifications: A-1 I (Storm Water management – Industrial Site), A-1 J (Storm Water Management – Construction Site), and industrial wastewater license that includes A-1D (Impoundment): For tanks, basins, or reservoirs used to hold wastewater, whether solids are settled or not; A-2B (Filtration of Wastewater): For removing particulates via filtration, specifically rapid sand filters, and similar systems (excluding bag, cartridge, or membrane filters); B-1B (Neutralization): For chemical processes that adjust wastewater pH to meet discharge permit limits (excluding pH changes for precipitation, nitrification, or enhancing biological treatment); B-2A (Chemical Clarification): For solids removal via chemical coagulation or precipitation using agents like polymer, alum, or ferric chloride just prior to clarification.
  • Working knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC) and system control and data acquisition systems (SCADA) to support subcontractors.
  • Experience with Trimble Business Center or AutoCAD Civil 3D .
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Software including Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word and Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead, direct and complete work in accordance with ENTACT safety policy and procedure.
  • Water Treatment System operating supervision, supervising and advising union personnel during construction, supervision of layout during construction and oversight during commissioning.
  • Read water quality analytical data, update excel tables and reports for the water treatment system and monitor compliance with water treatment system performance and discharge criteria including final effluent.
  • Draft/Update engineering drawings, specifications and record documents using AutoCAD.
  • Support external contractors to execute subcontract agreements.
  • Support compliance with Federal, State, and County regulators.
  • Generate and estimate costs for the water treatment system mobilization, construction, commissioning, operation, and demobilization using Excel.
  • Generate request for proposal documents to include bidders list, statement of work, bid form and instruction to bidder’s letter for the solicitation of the work using Word and Excel templates.
  • Develop/Update project schedules for the water treatment system activities using Microsoft Project or Primavera.
  • Prepare and update operating procedures, support operator training and compliance, gather and review reporting of field data and prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
  • Oversee the construction and setup of the system onsite and train ENTACT Associates how to run and maintain the system.
  • Analyze water treatment system process issues and provide solutions.
  • Work with project teams and vendors to meet project goals and objectives during the execution phase of the project.
  • Review vendor and subcontractor solicitations and analyze bids through generation of bid abstract.
  • Make technical recommendations to proposal and project team that provides value engineered approaches for water treatment system process and subcomponent applications.
  • Scheduling and procurement, project engineering, planning and submittals, AutoCAD, field project accounting, contracts administration, and quality control.
  • Other duties as assigned.
