About The Position

The Field Engineer Intern supports Louisiana Bridge Builders’ Construction team on the Calcasieu River Bridge Project through hands‑on participation in field engineering and coordination activities. This 10‑week structured internship includes safety training, project orientation, and immersive field experience with a dedicated construction team, along with limited high‑level interaction with key supporting departments. The program is designed to develop foundational field engineering skills and prepare interns for future entry‑level Field Engineer roles within Louisiana Bridge Builders.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in an accredited bachelor’s degree program in civil engineering, construction management, or an equivalent field of study, or have completed such a degree within the past 12 months
• Ability to maintain a valid and current driver’s license
• Ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner, both written and verbal
• Strong interest in heavy civil construction and field operations
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to follow direction, learn quickly and work collaboratively in a team environment
• Willingness to work in an active construction site and outdoor conditions
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and schedules
• Ability to work variable hours based on project needs

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of basic construction practices and current safety, quality, and environmental standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Construction team members with day-to-day field engineering tasks
• Support daily reports, work packages, and quantity tracking
• Observe and assist with work planning and productivity tracking
• Assist with interpretation of drawings and specifications under supervision
• Support layout, survey coordination, and general field activities
• Participate in site walks, safety meetings, and toolbox talks
• Observe coordination between construction and support functions (Safety, Quality, Cost Controls, Procurement, etc.)
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
