About The Position

Nightwing is seeking a cleared and experienced Field Engineer/Installer in the Fairfax VA area in support of USG. The selected candidate will be responsible for repairing, testing, and deploying devices in support of a global network. Work as a member of a team installing and maintaining a host of today’s latest communication systems and complex networks. Expected to work in remote autonomous environments across the globe and collaborate with a diverse cadre of IT Operational Specialist, LAN/WAN Engineers as well as Facility management and Logistical professionals. Travel OCONUS to conduct site surveys as well as, install/repair equipment with relations to network/facilities equipment and specifications. Design, update and record all areas of system installations and connectivity, using Customer procedures and direction. Train customers in the operation of equipment and testing of installed systems. Compose, review, and provide updates to technical documentation.

Requirements

  • Requires 6+ years’ experience as a field engineer supporting technical programs, however expertise, training and actual work experience with specific systems and/or technology is significantly more important than the number of years of experience
  • Experience in IP Related Services: TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, PPP, and SIP
  • Experience installing and maintaining Cisco routers and switches
  • Experience with UPS systems and AC/DC power systems, to include installation/connection
  • Working knowledge of CAT 5, CAT 6, and Fiber Optic cable, connectors, and demonstrated capability of fabricating required equipment
  • Experience using Remedy, VISIO, and MS Office
  • Ability to complete complex assignments without direction.
  • Must be a US Citizen and have an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph from day one of employment and be crossover eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Repairing, testing, and deploying devices in support of a global network.
  • Installing and maintaining communication systems and complex networks.

  • Training customers in equipment operation and system testing.
  • Composing, reviewing, and updating technical documentation.
  • Deploying, installing, and maintaining servers, routers, switches, telecommunications systems, UPS systems, and desktop PC hardware.
  • Providing procedural input to the planning, preparation, and execution of large projects.
  • Managing installation and team at field sites.
  • Troubleshooting difficult and complex problems in the field.
  • Ensuring systems are implemented on schedule.
  • Evaluating sites for equipment installation.
  • Installing applicable equipment (with racks if needed).
  • Performing onsite testing of equipment and coordinating with other engineers.
  • Installing and connecting applicable cables.
  • Coordinating pick-up and delivery of equipment.
  • Troubleshooting network connectivity issues.
