About The Position
BlueFin Field Services, a GATE Energy Company, is a leading independent service company with a suite of project execution niches and specialty equipment, covering a full range of pipeline and process services, intelligent completions, and umbilical services. Our clients range from Operators to General Contractors in the upstream and midstream market sectors of the oil and gas industry. BlueFin Field Services is based in Lafayette, LA. This role serves as a Mechanical Field Engineer, with Material Science or Metallurgy experience, working in the Service Department for land/offshore. The position is responsible for the execution of tasks as assigned by the Lead Service Technician, Service Supervisor, Project Manager, upper-level engineers, or other Management. The individual must be operationally qualified, verified, and authorized as required for specific tasks. All work shall be performed in a safe, professional, and productive manner. This role works under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Requirements
- Four-year accredited Mechanical engineering degree.
- Concentration or proficiency in Material Science or Metallurgy preferred
- 2 years’ experience preferred
- Extensive driving may be required
- Ability to work in harsh environmental conditions
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, Fit for Duty, and/or physical
Responsibilities
- Perform field services within capacity as directed and in accordance with specific project work plan, procedures, and/or standard operating procedures
- Support Lead Service Technicians, Service Supervisors when working in the field
- Report to Project Manager and District Manager when not working in the field
- Assist in creating project documentation such as Project Work Plans (PWP), drawings, calculations, etc.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Service, maintain, repair, and test equipment/ tools pre/post jobs
- Write or participate in writing Job Safety and Environmental Analysis (JSEA) for job task assigned
- Load/ unload equipment
- Learn all field services work and equipment in order to gain skills/knowledge
- Competency or working towards competency in Scopes of Work
- Increase knowledge and training on product lines and services
- Participation and Compliance with BlueFin HSE and Quality Management System.
- Follow current work-hours policy for both shop and field
- Comply with all company policies (Safety, quality, general, SOP’s, etc)
- Available 24-hour call (except for scheduled PTO)
- Able to perform demanding physical labor in hot/cold environments and offshore
- Participate in training
- Monitor environment for unsafe conditions
- Assist in creating training documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Other duties as assigned
