About The Position

Under close supervision, a Field Engineer I performs a variety of fundamental field engineering tasks in the installation, operations, testing, and maintenance of electronic equipment and systems. Work is at an entry level and is generally performed as a member of a project team. The applicant is expected to possess a foundational understanding of Telemetry systems with the ability to comprehend signal flow within a given system. Job responsibilities encompass Telemetry operations, data transport systems, and network systems with adherence to technical standards. This includes promptly addressing real-time mission anomalies and effectively troubleshooting emergent issues. Moreover, the candidate must demonstrate familiarity with local area networks and wide area networks, coupled with a knowledge of the transport and networking equipment integral to data transport. The candidate is expected to communicate effectively with the drafting department to create engineering drawings, and proficiency with drafting software such as Visio is desired. The candidate must be able to interpret and redline engineering drawings, as well as utilize schematics to install, alter, and repair equipment. The candidate will need to interface with engineering to make system proposals, evaluations, install, test and implement the use of new equipment. Perform quality assurance on telemetry systems as well as validation/verification of electronic systems. Produce operations, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting procedures for existing or new telemetry systems. The candidate must be able to work independently and as an integral part of a team, capable of making decisions under pressure. The candidate must be able to work overtime including weekends as well as varying shifts to accommodate mission support objectives. Routine preventative maintenance of all equipment, in accordance with established procedures and technical manuals, and other authoritative documentation is a fundamental responsibility. Furthermore, the candidate shall be responsible for generating local trouble tickets and maintenance tracking using Maximo to document all work performed per established procedures. Effective and professional communication with customers, involving email correspondence, phone interactions, and face-to-face meetings, is imperative. The applicant must obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance, extending up to and including the Secret level, with special access privileges. The ideal candidate will have experience operating Mobile Elevated Work platforms (boom lifts, scissor lifts) in accordance with safety protocols. Familiarity with personal fall arrest systems is required, including proper donning, use, and inspection. The role also involves physically demanding tasks, including the ability to safely climb ladders and access rooftops or elevated structures.
