About The Position

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. Our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery next year. We're seeking an experienced candidate to be the Field Engineer – Instrumentation and Controls on the project in Pecos, Texas. You will mobilize on a long-term (camp) assignment to the project in Pecos, TX. This position is contingent upon project award.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of industrial instrumentation, analyzers, control systems, field communications, tubing systems, and instrument installation practices.
  • Familiarity with instrument calibration, loop checking, functional testing, and commissioning processes.
  • Ability to interpret instrument indexes, loop diagrams, hookup drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and vendor documentation.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and integration of instrumentation activities with mechanical completion and turnover milestones.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Well developed communication skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and Quality.
  • Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) is preferred.
  • Experience with Simple Cycle or Combined Cycle facilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts.
  • Ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
  • Prepare construction drawings and sketches.
  • Facilitate planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Initiate requisitions for field purchases.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
  • Verify commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
  • Ensure zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Proactively consider continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
  • Develop firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
  • Review and approve inspection test plans.
  • Coordinate reviews of subcontractor submittits.
