About The Position

STV is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Field Engineer – Aviation to join our national Aviation group. This position will be fully onsite at one of our aviation client sites located in Los Angeles, CA, San Francisco, CA, Phoenix, AZ, or Denver, CO. This position will support the planning, construction, and delivery of complex aviation infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for candidates who thrive in dynamic airport environments and enjoy collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across design, construction, and operations. The Field Engineer will work closely with project managers, contractors, airport stakeholders, and design teams to support airside and landside construction activities while ensuring quality, safety, schedule, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Aviation Management, or related field.
  • 2–6 years of experience in construction, aviation infrastructure, transportation, or related engineering projects.
  • Understanding of construction methods, engineering plans, and field coordination processes.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in active construction and airport operational environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software platforms.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting aviation, airport, or transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with FAA advisory circulars, airport operations, and aviation design/construction standards.
  • EIT certification or progress toward PE licensure preferred.
  • Experience with Primavera P6, Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support field execution of aviation and airport infrastructure projects including terminals, airfields, utilities, roadways, and support facilities.
  • Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, airport operations personnel, and project teams to facilitate construction activities.
  • Monitor construction progress, quality, and adherence to project plans and specifications.
  • Assist with RFIs, submittments, change orders, punch lists, and field documentation.
  • Conduct site inspections and document daily construction activities and field observations.
  • Review drawings, schedules, and technical specifications for constructability and compliance.
  • Support project controls including tracking budgets, schedules, quantities, and project milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA requirements, airport standards, environmental regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with coordination of utility relocations, phasing plans, and operational constraints within active airport environments.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety and quality throughout all project phases.
