Battelle manages and operates the National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON) program, funded by the National Science Foundation. NEON is a 30+ year project focused on understanding the impact of climate change, land use, and invasive species on ecology. Scientists and engineers collect extensive ecological data across 20 US eco-climatic domains using advanced technology, including an airborne observation platform, automated ground sensors, and field crews. The Observatory aims to detect and forecast ecological change at continental scales and involves over 500 personnel. This specific role is for a Field Ecologist I - Botany, located onsite in Tuscaloosa, AL, within the Ozarks Complex (Domain 08), which covers diverse ecosystems from Oklahoma and Texas to western Georgia.
