About The Position

This position will assist with a variety of projects for the South Willamette Valley Field Crops Extension and Research Program. This program conducts research on seed and cereal crop production systems including grass seed, clover seed, cereals and other field crops. Current projects include pest management (slugs, voles, insects), soil health, drone aerial imagery, and plant growth regulators. The duties of this position will include set up, sampling and data collection for on-farm field trials. Indoor work will include sample processing, data entry and data analysis. Requirements

  • Academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
  • Meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
  • Meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard (High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program; Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term; Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term; Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term; Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term).
  • Must be able to drive a University vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the University.
  • Successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check.
  • Possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence.
  • Be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions.
  • OSU will conduct a review of the National Sex Offender Public website prior to hire.
  • All job offers are contingent upon Human Resources final approval.

Nice To Haves

  • Majoring in, or previous course work in agricultural sciences or related fields (e.g. soil science, crop science, horticulture, environmental science, biology, etc.).
  • Experience with GIS.
  • Experience with programming in R, Python or other languages.
