Field Crew Chief - Residential Land Surveying
About The Position
Exacta Land Surveyors is a leading provider of residential and commercial land surveying services across multiple states. We specialize in various survey types, including residential, commercial, construction, and ALTA/NSPS surveys, ensuring accurate and timely delivery for real estate transactions. The Field Crew Chief will utilize surveying equipment such as GPS, total stations, and data collectors to determine elevations and property boundaries for title surveys and elevation certificates. This role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions and requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally. The position operates Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work during peak seasons, and employees begin their workday from home in a company vehicle.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED diploma required.
- Valid Driver’s License and driving record that meets insurance requirements.
- Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide, and perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Understand algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
- Able to operate instruments required for the collection or distribution of survey data (total station, data collector, GPS).
- Proficient in the independent application and use of job-related software/e-technology/cloud-based solutions.
- Self-managed, responsible, safe, and enjoy working independently.

- Two years job related experience in the surveying industry desired.
Responsibilities
- Use surveying equipment including GPS, total stations, and data collectors to determine elevations and property boundaries.
- Perform work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions.
- Assist with the determination of elevations and property boundaries for title surveys and elevation certificates.
- Download and upload survey data to the proper files in the computer network or field data collector.
- Mark points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other identifying mark.
- Cut and clear brush and trees from the line of survey.
- Maintain the quality of data in the field and perform accurate simple calculations as needed.
- Responsible for equipment and vehicle maintenance, ensuring the vehicle is properly equipped each morning and returning equipment/supplies at the end of the shift.
- Adhere to Exacta’s policies, procedures, and work directives.
- Resolve internal/external customer issues promptly and professionally.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers, clients, and other parties.
- Perform all duties as assigned to meet business needs in a safe, ethical, and professional manner.
