Start your K&A Career: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Field Construction Coordinator to join our team at K&A Engineering in Filmore, New York. The FCC, led by the Project Manager and Construction Manager coordinates, supervises all construction and field work. The FCC coordinates the schedule with the Project Manager and Construction Manager with regard to the required field progress, the resources required, their mobilization and demobilization in time, and the corrective measures necessary in order to accomplish the work in compliance with Customers policies and procedures with regard to safety, quality, schedule and cost.

Requirements

Minimum of five (5) years experience in progressive related electric utility industry experience, with transmission facilities construction management
Two (2) years of college is preferred
Construction Project Engineer Background Preferred
Distribution line work experience required
MS Suite Required with high competency in MS Excel
Applicants should have the knowledge, experience and skills needed to review project plans, specifications, contract enforcement, and applicable technical standards, OSHA and other regulatory statutes.
Detailed work experience in electrical Utility transmission UV/OV & civil construction
Must have current US Work authorization and valid US Driver License in good standing
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory capacity experience
Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings and convey interpretations to contractors
Ability to investigate and solve construction problems in a timely manner with minimum dependence on others
Computer and Administrative skills
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Must be able and willing to attend training in E-STAR/CONVEX (switching and tagging).

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of NRA clearances and switching orders would be beneficial
Knowledge of GPS Systems & knowledge of SAP are preferred

Responsibilities

Field Support to Resolve Problems
Being Proactive
Must do Reporting Weekly Report, Monthly Reports, tracking of weekly PayIds completed.
Monitor Schedule - Look Ahead vs. PM
Attend the contractors Safety, Environment and Quality meetings; provide a tip in the onsite meeting.
Maintain and update as needed the onsite H&S, Environment and Quality project binder.
Be organized, and document all project progress to provide a good paper trail
Review contractor invoices and schedules and provide feedback.
Conduct weekly project progress meeting.
Request the contractor two week look ahead schedule at each weekly meeting.
Present onsite when work is being performed (make frequent observation of contractors activities).
Immediate notification to PM of all problems or foreseeable issues throughout construction, or any complaint presented by the general public.
Coordinate Material delivery between Customer Stockroom, and Contractor.
Inspect all project related construction material for damage and completeness for the project execution.
Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications, quality and adherence to construction schedules.
Facilitate resolving construction problems, discrepancies, procedures, and methods by working with engineering personnel, inspectors, contractors and suppliers.
Must have strong communications skills.
Minimize Change Orders.
Support Project Manager to review any requested Change Orders/Notices or other claims submitted by Construction Contractors which relate to additional payments, schedule adjustments or other modifications to the Project, and make such recommendations to the PM regarding the legitimacy of such claims and review the Construction Contractors proposed mitigation.
Review and understand the project documentation and any related documentation and provide input to enhance the constructability of the Project, taking into account schedule, cost and quality considerations.
Maintain a daily on-site as-build project plans.
Continuously communicate (written and verbally) with the associated PM.
Adhere to company policies, programs and procedures as well as Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP). Ensure all requirements are maintained throughout the project execution
Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging open communication, reporting unsafe conditions, and suggesting improvements to safety practices.
Diligently ensure compliance with safety regulations, conducting safety inspections, and identifying potential hazards to mitigate risks and maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
