About The Position

STV is seeking a Field Commissioning Engineer to join our team in New York, NY. In this role, you'll help ensure that new transit infrastructure, rolling stock, and related systems are installed correctly, thoroughly tested, and ready for safe, reliable operation. You'll work closely with project teams in the field to verify that all systems meet design specifications, performance expectations, and regulatory requirements before they are placed into service. As a Field Commissioning Engineer, you will: Oversee the upkeep of all communications systems. Participate in the installation, cutover, and acceptance testing (Factory Acceptance Test – FAT, Site Acceptance Test – SAT) of new or upgraded communications systems. Perform on-site inspections, testing, and system performance evaluations to verify compliance with project specifications and operational requirements. Develop and execute commissioning plans, including test procedures, schedules, and resource coordination. Partner with project managers, engineers, contractors, and operations teams to ensure projects stay aligned with technical requirements, quality standards, and timelines. Monitor installation and testing activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and MTA requirements. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues that arise during commissioning to ensure systems perform as intended. Prepare and maintain commissioning reports, test records, technical documentation, and other project deliverables. Train operations and maintenance personnel on newly commissioned systems and equipment. Ensure all commissioning activities comply with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience with system communication, installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting in transit, transportation, or infrastructure projects
  • 10 years plus of experience in the field
  • Strong understanding of project coordination, quality assurance, and safety compliance
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of rolling stock, third rail systems, HVAC, or other transit-related systems is preferred
  • Familiarity with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) practices and construction site operations is a plus
