Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Field Business Associate in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our team! Role Summary: The Field Business Associate provides financial and business support to the South Texas Asset Team. This role is responsible for managing the asset team’s expense tracking, budgeting, forecasting, and variance reporting processes. The Field Business Associate ensures accurate and timely financial information is available to support sound business decisions and works closely with budget owners and leadership to drive cost awareness and accountability.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in business analysis, accounting, bookkeeping or related roles.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); comfortable learning new software and systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in midstream oil & gas is a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle JDE, OneStream, Insight, and Open Invoice is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the coding and processing of invoices for the South Texas Asset Team.
  • Work with budget owners to compile accurate monthly accruals and ensure costs are recorded in the correct period.
  • Analyze actual costs on a monthly basis to identify trends, anomalies, and actionable takeaways; present findings to asset team leadership.
  • Review actual costs monthly and correct any errors (e.g., miscoding's, expense vs. capital classifications).
  • Work with budget owners to compile clear, concise comments explaining variances to budget/forecast for inclusion in monthly reporting packages.
  • Lead the preparation of the South Texas Asset Team's annual operating budget. Includes line-item entry for over ten responsibility areas with a total annual spend in excess of $65 million.
  • Lead all budget update cycles throughout the year for the South Texas Asset Team.
  • Support and guide budget owners through each phase of the budgeting and forecasting process to ensure accuracy and alignment with business objectives.
  • Create and maintain financial guidelines and checklists for South Texas Asset Team staff and management (e.g., proper time recording to work orders, work order creation, expense vs. capital delineation).
  • Train South Texas Asset Team members on budget processes and financial guidelines to build financial acumen across the team.
  • Respond to ad hoc information and data requests from asset team leadership, corporate FP&A, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Provide Finance support within the Incident Command System (ICS) when necessary.
  • Assist with inventory tracking for South Texas Asset Team equipment and materials.
  • Support asset team personnel with contract-related tasks as needed.
  • And other duties as assigned.
