About The Position

TRC has an opening for a Field Scientist/Biologist to support a variety of biological field projects for clients in the areas of renewable energy, electric generation and transmission, and pipeline in our Planning, Permitting, and Licensing Practice in the Norcross, GA office. Our Environmental Sector delivers comprehensive environmental solutions to meet the full project lifecycle needs of clients in renewable energy, oil & gas, transportation, and manufacturing industries. With one of the largest multimedia air and land permitting and compliance teams in the country, we support client success in manufacturing and industry, liquids delivery and processing, natural gas storage and delivery, power generation and delivery, and transportation projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, natural resources, biology, ecology, or related field.
  • 2 to 5 years of post-degree experience.
  • Strong ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and technical communication skills, along with the ability to maintain a positive attitude working under aggressive schedules and challenging work conditions such as heavily vegetated, rough terrain and hot/cold weather conditions.
  • The ability to aid in and/or prepare clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondence, and other written materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GIS, AutoCAD, or other advanced software applications is preferred but not required.
  • Experience/familiarity with Phase I Environmental Site Assessments is preferred but not required.
  • Experience/familiarity writing NEPA related documents such as Environmental Assessments, Categorical Exclusions, and related technical reports.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct biological field surveys which may include wetland/waterbody delineations (in accordance with USACE requirements), habitat assessments, or wildlife and plant species-specific surveys, and breeding bird and raptor surveys.
  • Conduct data review and preparation of reports from field surveys.
  • Aid in preparation of technical reports and agency correspondence.
  • Aid in preparation of requests/permit applications to USACE/State for jurisdictional determinations and Section 10/404 permits.
  • Abide by Company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
