CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Field Assistant II to join our Water Team in Charlotte, NC . In this role, you’ll work alongside engineers and technical professionals to collect data, support inspections, and assist with evaluating sanitary sewer systems—playing a meaningful role in maintaining and improving essential infrastructure systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Surveys required
  • Ability to operate various computer programs associated with sanitary sewer study
  • Strong knowledge of basic mathematics and formulas and familiarity with safety rules and regulations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Team‑oriented mindset with the willingness to assist mid‑ and senior‑level field and engineering staff
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and outdoors, tolerate extreme environmental conditions, and lift/carry 30 lbs. regularly
  • Valid driver’s license required with the ability to travel as needed

Nice To Haves

  • NASSCO and Confined Space Entry certifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of sanitary sewer systems—including flow monitoring, smoke testing, manhole inspections, and field investigations—to identify inflow and infiltration
  • Collect, organize, and review field data to ensure accuracy and support reporting and analysis efforts
  • Support engineering staff on sewer assessment and rehabilitation projects by contributing to technical field tasks and data‑driven project needs
  • Report inspection findings in accordance with established technical standards, regulations, and client/company protocols
