About The Position

Arrow Electronics Inc. is seeking a Field Applications Engineer to help design engineers select the right technologies and components for their designs. This role involves preparing and conducting trainings, events, and technical meetings with clients and suppliers. The Field Applications Engineer will guide technical direction for product selection and priorities based on supplier strategies and market conditions. They will understand customer system design requirements and leverage Arrow’s engineering and design services resources to facilitate solutions. This position partners with the sales team across pre-sales and post-sales activities, providing detailed technical support and consulting to promote and demand creation. Responsibilities include performing technical analysis and research with customers, sales, other departments (such as engineering services, supplier management, etc.), and suppliers to support customer designs. The role also involves managing supplier and customer expectations by building and developing technical and business relationships, and keeping stakeholders updated on activities, plans, and progress. The Field Applications Engineer will utilize an advanced understanding of customer needs and technical leadership expertise to champion return on engineering investment, securing design wins that will produce sales. They will drive demand creation by maximizing Arrow content on designs with assigned suppliers and apply technical knowledge to influence designs using solution selling, resources, and strategies. The role requires attending and actively participating in strategic branch meetings, opportunity reviews with suppliers, and QBRs, as well as developing and driving strategic technical plans by supplier line and/or customer solutions.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience as a Field Applications Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Technical Support Associate Engineer, or related occupation.
  • OR Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field plus 5 years of experience as a Field Applications Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Technical Support Associate Engineer, or related occupation.
  • Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) semiconductor technology to support the customer design activities with FPGAs
  • FPGA software development tools and design methodologies that are required to support customer FPGA design activities
  • Software tools and Integrated Development Environments (IDE) to support Microcontroller designs and FPGA designs
  • Programming languages VHDL and Embedded C
  • Microcontrollers, Microprocessors, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence, Wireless technology and Wireless modules
  • Development tools including MATLAB, SolidWorks and AutoCAD
