About The Position

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to join their Northwest Sales and Application team. This role involves utilizing engineering design skills to reduce client development time, lower system costs, and enhance end-product performance. The FAE will provide support for hardware, firmware, middleware, and development tools to accelerate customer product development, acting as a trusted technical advisor. The position offers exposure to diverse applications in consumer, transportation, medical, military, and security markets. Requirements

  • Experience in embedded systems and outstanding technical skills.
  • Knowledge of hardware and software designs with microcontroller/Microprocessor (Microchip preferred) based Embedded Systems.
  • Know-how of embedded security cryptography, PKI principles and certificate management.
  • Working knowledge of hardware-based security techniques (Hardware Security Modules, TrustZone, Secure Boot, etc.) into a robust hardware/software system design.
  • Working knowledge of IOT systems and cloud connectivity (Google, AWS, Azure).
  • Experienced in embedded C programming language.
  • Work effectively with Field Sales and Business Unit teams.
  • Ability to operate under minimal guidance and assume personal responsibility/accountability comfortably.
  • Establish trust and credibility with customers, distributors, and regional teams.
  • Effectively manage prioritization of many opportunities and customers.
  • Self-starting learner – proactively keeps up to date with new technologies and products.
  • Work effectively with other regions and divisional applications.
  • Proficient written and verbal skills in English.
  • Accomplished Presentation and Training skills.
  • BS in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in design or technical support is a plus.
  • Embedded Linux knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Drive design wins to revenue at large accounts by providing in-depth engineering support.
  • Create demos or proof-of-concept solutions for end customers.
  • Provide hardware, firmware, middleware, and development tools support.
  • Grow the "Security opportunities" funnel by collaborating with Sales and Business teams.
  • Act as the security trusted advisor for Microchip's security products and solutions.
  • Assist customers with hardware and software development.
  • Develop proof-of-concept solutions to familiarize clients with Microchip products.
  • Provide customer feedback to Business Lines to influence security-related roadmaps.
  • Travel for training or to support other regions as needed.
  • Be a member of a functional expertise team.
