About The Position

The Field Application Engineer works with the Engineering team to ensure the successful completion of field tests for new and existing projects. The position also performs job-site inspections and provides technical assistance to internal and external customers. When working at the Quaker campus, the Field Application Engineer will assist in the testing laboratory.

Requirements

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Must have the ability to read architectural drawings, shop drawings and factory orders
  • Operate precision measurement devices to perform inspection
  • Must maintain valid driver's license
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks or other drafting software
  • Reading and Comprehension Skills
  • Resourceful / Proactive in Gathering Information, Sharing Ideas and Trouble Shooting
  • Independent Judgment and Collaboration
  • Presentation Skills
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills in the English Language
  • Customer Service Focused

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Relevant Area of Specialty preferred
  • American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) Installation Master Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Observe the completion of product tests in the field and installations to ensure compliance with company & industry standards
  • Job-site inspection of product and installation
  • Witness certification testing at third party testing sites
  • Conduct root-cause analysis to identify source of known quality issues
  • Meet with customers & general contractors onsite to review findings and establish appropriate countermeasures
  • Compile data to produce reports and documentation relevant to assigned projects of high complexity
  • Timely respond to questions from customers, managers, co-workers
  • Timely produce accurate expense reports
  • Periodically complete lab assistant duties such as building wood bucks, installing products into wood bucks, helping run prototype units, running the test wall or putting drawings together for product revisions
  • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
  • Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner.
  • Periodic availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis.
  • Communicate via email, prepare reports and work schedules.
  • Review and analyze data and information concerning product tests.
  • Plan, prioritize and monitor testing activities.
  • Complete assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.
  • Observe safety and security policies and procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment; report potentially unsafe conditions; and use equipment and materials properly. Follow job-specific safety requirements such as Ladder Safety, Power and Manual Tool Safety, Safe Lift and Scaffold Safety. The individual must follow all safe driving laws and any on-site safety requirements.
