About The Position

SRP is seeking a motivated student intern to support our teams while gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. This internship offers students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects that support SRP’s commitment to delivering reliable, sustainable water and power services. The Fleet Services student intern will gain hands-on experience working in a professional fleet maintenance shop environment while supporting the inspection, maintenance, and repair of utility vehicles and equipment. This internship is ideal for students interested in pursuing a career in the skilled trades, automotive technology, or related field.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a college degree-seeking program.
• Interest in careers in skilled trades, automotive technology, diesel technology, mechanics, or a related field.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and positive attitude.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment as needed.
• Ability to work safely in a shop environment and outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Student Interns must be actively enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours that are college level (100) or above over the course of a regular semester and must be working towards a degree from an accredited college or university.
• All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• Basic knowledge of automotive systems is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support/observe with routine vehicle and equipment inspections, maintenance, and repair activities.
• Support/observe preventive maintenance tasks, including fluid checks, tire inspections, cleaning, and basic vehicle servicing.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.
• Assist with inventory management, tool organization, and parts handling.
• Learn and follow safety procedures, shop practices, and operating standards.
• Perform general labor, cleaning, and support tasks as assigned.
• Work both inside the maintenance shop and outdoors around vehicles and equipment.
