About The Position

The Gastroenterology department is seeking a full-time Fibroscan Technician to work 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, day shift. This role provides direct patient care by performing fibroscans, preparing reports for physician signature and billing, and traveling with a portable fibroscan to other BILH locations. The technician will also perform administrative responsibilities including scheduling/confirming fibroscan appointments, answering phones, scheduling Liver Center outpatient appointments, and capturing prior authorizations. Incumbents must be Certified by the Manufacturer of the Fibroscan. This position has a significant impact on the first impression patients and visitors experience when calling or arriving into the outpatient units. Incumbents will provide a high level of customer service by interacting with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional manner that is proactive, friendly, and helpful.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 0-1 years related work experience required.
  • Certification in Fibroscanning by Manufacturer of equipment to be obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • Basic familiarity with computers.
  • Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
  • Competent to provide patient care to young adults (16-30 years) and middle-aged adults (30-60 years).

  • Associate's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs fibroscans in Boston location as well as off-site locations.
  • Schedules/confirms all fibroscans in all locations in order to organize and maintain an excel spreadsheet used for statistical purposes.
  • Captures referral and prior authorizations for fibroscans.
  • Works independently when traveling to off-site locations.
  • Interacts professionally with both patients and Physicians in all locations.
