Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in the following Engineering Disciplines: Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Electrical or Ceramic Engineering
  • 2+ years’ experience in Manufacturing Environment.
  • Strong data analysis and statistical skills.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with experimental design.
  • Ability to use scientific method and engineering principles to solve problems thoroughly and effectively
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively on all levels of an organization in a multinational setting across different cultures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Access and statistical packages such as Minitab, JMP, SPCXL a plus.
  • Summer Intern experience/progressive experience within the field of engineering
  • Green Belt Certification

  • Shift supervisory experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering-level support to manufacturing operations internationally
  • Solve process issues through rigorous data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Provide engineering expertise for fundamental understanding of manufacturing issues.
  • Provide trend analysis of key metrics and implement response plans.
  • Lead and/or provide support for projects involving cost reduction, process optimization, and new products
  • Actively engage in plant safety initiatives and projects.
  • Recommend/implement improvements to processes and equipment.
  • Identify chronic issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide leadership or support for startup of new equipment lines.
  • Develop and update engineering and operations documentation.
  • Provide training for operations workforce regarding equipment or operations changes.
