About The Position

As the Fiber Splicing Technician, you will be responsible for splicing, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining fiber optic cable networks while ensuring high-quality network performance and reliability. You will coordinate field activities, complete network testing and documentation, and deliver accurate fiber installations. Your customers are telecommunications and broadband infrastructure clients, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through technical expertise, quality workmanship, and a commitment to safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • OSHA 10 Certification required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred.
  • 3+ years of fiber optic splicing and telecommunications construction experience.
  • Experience with underground and aerial fiber optic installation, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Ability to read blueprints, splice matrices, maps, and utility drawings.
  • Ability to distinguish fiber color codes and perform precise fiber splicing.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and basic math skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Ability to climb ladders and poles, work in confined spaces, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb ladders and poles, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, in confined spaces, at heights, and around heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Must be able to distinguish fiber color codes and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with fiber network activation, audits, and rehabilitation projects.
  • Experience operating cable pulling equipment and working in telecommunications construction environments.

Responsibilities

  • Splice, test, troubleshoot, repair, and activate underground and aerial fiber optic cable systems.
  • Diagnose cable plant issues, perform end-of-line network testing, and provide field documentation and recommendations to resolve network performance issues.
  • Read splice matrices, prints, and maps to complete fiber assignments, redlines, case swaps, audits, and related documentation.
  • Build, prepare, seal, and manage fiber cases and enclosures, including color-for-color splicing, jumper cases, tie points, cable management, and gel-filled case rehabilitation.
  • Pull fiber cable through existing duct packages or conduit using manual, mechanical, or blowing methods while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Follow all company safety procedures while maintaining accurate project documentation and quality workmanship.
  • Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.
